C# code for monitoring websites visited

Question

This is for my sisters school project. She was building a network monitoring system for lan in her school. She couldnt figure out how to monitor websites accessed by clients. any way out?

See Packet Sniffer in C# . I am not sure that will help but it probably will. I don't know if it is possible to deny access to a web site that way but it is probably possible to at least detect what is being done as it is being done.

It will be better if I can monitor at the moment what they are doing. If it is difficult history will do. As time is running out I want to do which ever is easier. I have to use a software because i have already mentioned it is for a software project.

Do you need to monitor what someone is doing at the moment they are doing it or does it help to know what someone has done in the past? The browser history will show what sites have been visited. If you need to monitor what sites are accessed at the moment they are accessed then one way to do that is using a Browser Helper Object (BHO). A BHO is something executed within IE. A BHO is quite technical; it is not a beginner thing but a BHO can also be very powerful. Something else that can be done without writing any software is to update the hosts file. The hosts file is a text file that can be edited using a text file editor. Records in the hosts file can prevent access to specified web sites. So in other words if you put sex.com in the hsots file then no one can use that computer to go to sex.com.

Actually I dont think this is what i want. There are many computers connected in a LAN. LAN is connected to internet. Students may use internet for study purposes free of cost. But some students will misuse this facility for social networking or illegal sites. So Admin wants the list of sites accessed by clients in network

One way to do this is to access IIS and System log files. Usually you monitor a website users and their information within the Web application itself. To get information from outside you go to IIS log files and parse it.
