c# without windows installed

Question

hello
when we intend to use c# We installed a dotnetframework in a windows machine.
my question is
Can I develop software and run c# (console application in a machine without windows installed ?
Or is there dotnet framework run for dos ?

I dont think you can install framework without windows . once you have .net framework working you can develop programs without any interface . but still try it once and let me tell the result . i m also interested to know the result .. try this C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 copy this folder to machine ..after installing .net on some other machine Folder and try to run csc.exe from dos see if it works or not
