As Vishal said the 'dynamic' keyword can only be used with .NET Framework 4.0 or later - it can't be used with .NET Framework 2.0. I'd only use it as a last resort in any case because it's 'late bound' and therefore much slower than normal C# code. It also needs to pull in an additional component known as the Dynamic Language Runtime (or DLR) and so increases the memory footprint of your application. Using the object type should work fine here: object value = 'Y'; // or value = 3 if (textBox1.Text == textBox2.Text) { textBox2.Text = value.ToString(); } As TextBox.Text is a string property you either have to call the ToString() method on value or use this little hack: textBox2.Text =  + value;

Hello Friend yes you can assign integer or char value to a variable in any .net framework For .Net Framework less than 4.0 you can do this by declaring an object variable for eg: object value='Y'; or object value=10; In case of .net framework 4.0 you are provided with a new special datatype named dynamic we can make use of it for dynamically assigning character or integer or any other value to the variable.
