Can I create my own report?

Question

I would like to have some light on report.
Its possible as developer to create your own software report that to use reportview for example, etc.
Anyone here can give just some theoric steps. For example, can do you make your own? xml, windows form, etc or what?

If two filters are to be satisfied at once the query will need to be: select * mytable from mytable where outCars = ? and someOtherColumn = ? If one filter OR the other filter (or both) are to be satisfied replace 'and' with 'or'.

Thanx. But one of the most think I cant do well in Reportview is filter. For example when I need to filter data from my rptform with a textbox I do this and its works perfectly: this. OutOfCars TableAdapter.Fill(this.OutOfCars._OutOfCar txtPrevOutCars . Text ); this.reportViewer1.RefreshReport(); Curiously I cant resolv two filters once. For example I insert the car's name + code's name to previsualize on my report. Its doesnt works. I know that in configure I need to put this. Then how can I make it work for two filters: select * mytable from mytable where outCars = ?

I'd set the Width and Height properties of the report rather than setting the orientation directly. For landscape you can just take what these properties are for portrait and swap them around so that the width is now greater than the height. I think once you've done this then the orientation will default automatically to (and stay at) landscape.

The answer is great. I am using Reportviewer included in VS2010. But the thing is when yiu select the option landscape is working at that moment. When you go out from that preview and come back again its still as before (you need to click again on the landscape). There is no way to do it in programming (just to have landscape mode when click on a button)?

If you're talking here about creating a 'one off' report then you can do quite a lot in Windows Forms using the DataGridView and Chart controls. However if you're wanting to create your own report designer I wouldn't recommend it as there's no way that you're going to be able to match the sophistication of Crystal Reports or Microsoft Reports given the 'programmer years' that have gone into creating them.
