Can my C# program create an empty project in VS2008/2010?

Hi Expers I am new to C# and I heard we can do anything in C# :). I wanted to write a program which can create an empty project in CPP. Please let me know if it is possible in C#. Thanks

Visual Studio has been extensible since long before .Net existed. There are a few ways to extend VS. Th easiest way is to use macros written using VB. If you want to use C# then you will need to spend time learning; at least a couple of weeks and I would estimate a couple of months for a beginner. I do not know what version of VS you have. The following is a portion of the Start Page in my installation of VS 2010 Professional. See where it says Extending Visual Studio? Click there. If you have a different version of VS you will easily find the equivalent in the version you have. Correction: this web site is malfunctioning so I cannot upload the image.

As we need to create empty cpp project can we try writing a program to create .sln and the required files/folders(with content) giving few input parameters.

Yes my plan is to create an Add-in only but I was wondering if there is any way to write a program which can create empty project automatically. Thanks for response.

Guys Sarbojit is not asking how to create a project; Sarbojit is asking how to write a program; how to  write a program which can create an empty project . So instructions for how to create a project are not relevant. Also unless there are any articles in this web site about VS extensibility there are are no articles to be recommended. Sarbojit I can give a bit more of a hint. When creating a project expand the Other Project Types node of the Installed Templates. There you should find Visual Studio Add-in. I think that is what you would use to do what you are asking to do using C#. That is about all I am saying since I don't know much more than that.

Visual studio allows the developers to create the empty project. While adding project you can select the empty project. File >> New Project >> Click on Visual Basic or Visual C# >> Empty Project You can create the empty project.
