If you have a web cam, and you want to create a WinForms application to capture still images (snap shots), If the camera has a standard DirectShow driver, you can do this using DirectShow SDK. For more information, see this post: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/2615/DirectShow-NET Note that some people (including me) find programming with DirectShow somehow difficult. I am currently using a programming multimedia toolkit (leadtools) that has native .NET classes which wrap DirectShow functions and provide high-level controls for .NET developers. Hello, I have two possible solutions for you: Option 1: Take a look at this Codeproject guide that explains how to take IP camera snapshots and save the captured image on your computer . It presents how to build a WinForms Application for IP cameras. Option 2: Watch this video tutorial that explains how to implement snapshot taking feature for your camera viewer application in C# . It can be also used for USB webcams and IP cameras as well. The video demonstrates how to build such a WPF application. (Its full source code can be downloaded as well.)
