Explicitly converts an expression of one data type to another. CAST and CONVERT provide similar functionality. Syntax Using CAST: CAST ( expression AS data_type ) Using CONVERT: CONVERT ( data_type [ ( length ) ]  expression [  style ] ) Arguments expression Is any valid Microsoft® SQL Server™ expression.
