CD Drive Property check

Question

How i check my CD drive has only read capability or it has also read-right property  by C#? Thank you in advance!

This code is fine & there is no exception But  Supports Writing  is not showing . It shows only  Random Access  &  Supports Removable Media  both for my logical & virtual drive... Thanks for your long support :) But Supports Writing are still not showing... please... Thank you once again :)

Thanks for your support. I am using first time System.Management ; So I think i first read about this namespace if you recommended any article ar link will help me & then I properly understand what is my mistake & what is the way to solve this problem. I look this article which is written by Kirtan Pattel http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/kirtan007/2541/ but it is not working in my computer Is it need any special configuration? Thank you!

Perhaps CapabilityDescriptions does not always work; I don't know but it seems to not work for me either. So use Capabilities instead; it is an array of UInt16 numbers. Look in that array for the value 4 which indicates that the drive supports writing. If there is no 4 then the drive cannot write.

Sir I select drive from combo box but still i get an exception. it mark on this line in button: foreach (string s in x) I enter a disk & check again it give me trouble also. I have a logical & one virtual drive. and use XP pack 3. Thank you I could not under stand where i do the sili but terrible mistake. plesae help me & mark my mistake... Thank you once again!

there is no mistake in your code may be you forget to select drive name from combo box before pressing Get Capabilities Button so it occured ! else its working .

This type of data is usually available using WMI so look at the System.Management Namespace; especially the ManagementClass Class. The online MSDN makes it difficult to find some things but look for the Win32_ WMI class for physical drives. The logical drive class might work.

Go to My computer -> right click and go to Manage -> computer Management will open -> there you go and click DEVICE MANAGER --> there you can find cd drive icon -> it is displaying DVD/CD - ROM DRIVES --> select this and open the tree --> if your cd drive has write permission means it will display like this -> CD ROM suppose it is displaying -> RW means your drive has both read and write
