If you are very much keen on performance of you application like reducing the loading time of images and scripts at that time CDN comes into picture. CDN (Content Delivery Networks) provided server location splited across geo location around the world. Your images are hosted on the respective server. Say for example if your CDN networks available in US and UK then if any user request your site from india then UK server will be contacted for images and download the same. The main point here is it will decrease the loading time of the image by taking the image from nearest server UK than US server. The same sceario is applicable for JS also.
