Checkbox to run application on windows startup

Question

Hello everyone I have an application writing in c# and there is an option whether to run the app. at windows startup. The problem is I don't know how to do it. Please help me this is urgent

I wrote an application that makes some tests on DB and sends emails the app. itself has a GUI from which you can start/stop the service. So I think this is a normal windows application and not a Windows Service. I also have a problem accessing Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Name I have an error that Assembly not found what is the reference to add? and please one more question is there a way to make installation setup for the application? Thanks a lot

A windows service has not directly somthing to do with .net. A windows service is an executable which runs under a special behaviour. Windows has it's own os services for example printer spooler ftp server or what ever. Anyway those windows services are started by windows (if you wannt even before you're logged on). Usually they don't have a GUI. Simon

I wrote a function to write the registry. But I have another question which maybe be stupid but I am really new to .Net what is windows service ?

Hi If your app is not a windows service then a possible way to start an app after windows logon is to write the correct value to the registry: Add a string value containig the path of the executable to the following registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Here you'll find an example how to edit the registry: http://www.csharphelp.com/archives2/archive430.html Simon
