hi can anyone tell me how to use checkbox with in the grid view and how it is checked

Hi Karthi Add Grid view column as Template Field You can find the check box value by CheckBox chk=(CheckBox)GridView1.Rows[index].FindControl(chkSelect); // index means the rowindex of the GridView which you want to know the check Box status Then you can check whether it is selected or not using if(chk.Checked==true/False)
