checkedlist box - windows application C#

Question

Hello world,

I have a checkedlistbox control filled with mutiple text items,
I want to know the itemindex of particular string which is a member item in the checkedlistbox control.
I want to develop a general function, where in I pass the string and it return the itemindex of that string from checkedlistbox...how???????
