Close one windows form from another form in C#.net

Question

I want to close a windows form from another windows form. Book newform=new Book(); newform.Close(); It's not working. How can I be able to do this?? Regards Shomen

It looks to me as though you're creating a new instance of Book and then closing that rather than closing the existing instance of Book. In a multi-form application there are various ways in which one form can obtain a reference to another form. However if you're using .NET 2.0 or later this should work: Book newform = (Book)Application.OpenForms[Book]; newform.Close(); Notice that if Book is the main form (the one used in Application.Run) this code will close not just Book but the entire application.

Well if you have 2 forms Form1 and Form2 and you want to close Form2 from Form1 then Add a button to Form1 private void button_click(object sender eventArgs e) { Form2.ActiveForm.Disposed+= new EventHandler(closeForm2) } private void closeForm2(object sender eventArgs e) { Form2.ActiveForm.Dispose(); }

this code is working for short time period.But after a long time if we close the form it is not closing the another form
