The Common Language Runtime (CLR) is microsoft .net framework component it manages the several activities of the .net application. The run time environment manages the execution and its multiple language environment. It supports some of the .net supported language to execute in the .net. It converts the .net language into managed code and it runs under the CLR. - Auto memory management - Code security - Run time type safety - Thread management - Program execution - Exception handling The CLR converts the .net language into machine understandable code called MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language). It handles the object in the memory management to free the unused resource in the memory to helps the processor to improve the performance of the execution. The CLR has the JIT(Just In Time) compiler which executes the .net code at the runtime. If it is useful then mark it as Accepted Answer.
