What is the difference between consuming a class and referencing a class?

If you consume a class then you access the public (or internal) members of that class. These could be either instance or static members. However before you can consume the instance members of a class then you need to obtain a reference to an instance of that class. For example: MyClass mc = new MyClass(); // creates a MyClass instance and assigns a reference to it to 'mc' mc.MyMethod(); // calls the instance method MyMethod
