connect a windows app to sql database via wifi

I have a database in mysql in my laptop. i want to make a windows phone app to fetch the datas stored in that database via wifi in my app. is it possible

If you can access it on an ethernet cable you can access it on wifi. Network is network the medium through which you are connected is immaterial. In fact the transport protocol (such as tcp or http) neither knows nor cares how you are connected.

I never tried this but I think yes it is possible.
