Connected and Disconnected mode

Hi friends...

I have very confusion in connected and disconnected mode in .net ? Please explain in details connected and disconnected mode with real life example ? Which mode is best and why ?

Hi Connected Mode:- In connected archi. you have to declare the connection explicitly by using Open() and close the connection using Close() and u cn execute commands using different methods like.. ExecuteNonQueryExecuteScalarExecuteReader etc.. Disconnected Mode:- In disconnected archi. you dont need to define the connections explicitly..SqlDataAdatpter itself can open and closes the connection..and u can use dataset for storing the info. temporarily and Fill method was used to execute the commands give in adapter... 1. Connected environment needs a constantly connection of user to data source while performing any operation. Dissconnected environment does not need any connection . 2. Only one operatio n can be performed at a time in connected environment while in dissconnected multiple operations can be performed. 3. DataReader is used in connected environment. DataSet is used in dissconnected environment. 4.Connected: Network traffic is high poor in Performance DisConnection: Network traffic is low Good in Performance 5.We get updated data in connected environment In disconnectes environmentthere is a problem of dirty read . 6. Connected: ' Join ' can be used to relate two tables Disconnected: DataRelations (a Class) can be used to relate two tables. Normal 0 Hi Vineet Connected mode gives faster performance where as disconnected get low in speed and performance. Connected mode can hold the data of single table where as disconnected can hold multiple tables of data DataReader is connected architecture since it keeps connection open until all records are fetched.
