what will happen if i use constructor in abstract class in asp.net

It was just an observation, Akash, in case veera tries to use the constructor directly. There's nothing wrong with your example which is a good one :)

you are absolutely right. But please look at my code I have told to use that to inherited by its base class..I never told you to create a object from that abstract class..

Notice though that you're not allowed to call an abstract class's constructor directly. If you change A's constructor from protected to public in Akash's example and try to instantiate A using this line: A a = new A("Hello"); then you'll get the following compiler error: error CS0144: Cannot create an instance of the abstract class or interface 'A'

yes , we can do it.. That way you can have classes that inherit from that class call the base constructor. public abstract class A{ private string data; protected A(string myString){ data = myString; } } public class B : A { B(string myString) : base(mystring){} } accept this answer if it solves your issue..
