Conversion of a pdf file into an excel file.

Question

I have a requirement in which I have to read a pdf file and when I click on Convert button then all the data from pdf file should be exported to an excel file. This should be done without any third party control.

Hey Thanks for the information. The links you mentioned helped me a lot to understand but when I am trying to add those 2 third party dlls...it is giving some error even though I put those dlls into the bin folder of my project. Moreover I am not getting the source code for iTextSharp/iText. If you have any clue then please let me know about it. Thanks once again. Pooja.

Hi I dont think there is any native libraries that will help you read from the PDF file. There is a tutorial here: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/PDFToText.asp that uses 2 dll's from an open source project on sourceforge. I know this is 3rd party but you could always read the source get an idea on how they done it and write your own version specifically for what you need. To generate the Excel file from the data you pulled you could then have a look at this tutorial: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Code/2002/Jan/CreateExcelSheetGAG.asp but its a bit out of date and there may be a better way with the 2.0 framework.
