The problem is that the ToDateTime is unable to understand the format that you are supplying Given below is a sample of how to acheieve it please extend it string myDateFormat = @22/03/1979; System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo dateFormatInfo = new System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo(); dateFormatInfo.ShortDatePattern = @dd/MM/yy; System.IFormatProvider format = dateFormatInfo; System.DateTime myDateTime = DateTime.Parse(myDateFormat format); Console.WriteLine(myDateTime.ToString()); In your case try to define the pattern  then it should work for you Thanks Jagan Mohan

XMLDateTime is not in a correct format....please check the value... try Using System.DateTime instead of just DateTime... can u post the error message....
