Creation of webmail in asp.net

Question

i need to create a webmail server through which i can send mailsreceive mails download attachments etc.... i need some tips and sugessions!!!!!

ya thanks for ur posting since i am new to this concept i am not able to get clear idea of wat i should do? can u help me regarding this my queries are 1) we are using sqwebmail server for hosting the website 2) i need to read the mail coming to my inbox and download attachments from it 3) every thing must be store it in sql server database tables tat it............. for this wat i need to ask from webserver and how to proceed this..........

Look at the classes in the System.Net.Mail namespace for sending mail. Look at articles in this web site for help with that. The System.Net.Mail namespace does not have anything for receiving mail but there are articles in this web site for doing it too.

Have you thought of using opensource asp.net web mail applications?? Why dont you check out this http://anmar.eu.org/projects/sharpwebmail/ I had used it 2 or 3 yrs back for one of my client. I am not sure of it now. I felt it was good that time. You can also try this http://www.smartertools.com/smartermail/free-mail-server.aspx. I am not sure of this from development perspective. I just know my website's mail server uses this software and I like it. Let me know if it was useful. Regards Praneeth
