It depends on the requirement you have. Console application dot have UI but you can do everything by using console application also.

In fact console application is for advanced users. Those who interested in output only. GUI is for novice users that mean people who are interested in appearance of the output as well.

Actually console application will be faster because there is no UI. But if you create a crystal report using console application I don't think it will improve your application performance much. Better solution just improves the performance of the query that you are using to access in the crystal report. If you are able to access the record from you DB faster then it will improve the loading time of the report.
