Database Issue...

Question

Hi Here´s the problem... Im creating a windows application in c#.net (studio 20003) and the application is meant to work with one PC. 1.- The application will store data so so i whant to know what will be the best database for this type of application (1PC no-network no sharing). 2.-if i use sql  when i decide to install the program in another machine will I have to install sql server there? 3.-Can I use XML? Thanx i will appreciate any help

I don't like the term SQL because Microsoft named their database server MS SQL Server so now you never know what someone means when they say SQL. Thanks a lot M$ >:( So I'm going to be very specific. SQL is the textual query that one would issue to a database server no matter what kind of database engine they're using. MSSQL or SQL Server is the popular database engine server. If you want to use SQL almost any database will do. You can use Access Paradox DBase MSSQL Firebird / Interbase MySQL Informix etc. You can use almost the same code no matter what your engine is. If you use a local database engine such as MSACCESS Paradox DBase FoxPro etc. you need only ensure that the user has a recent version of MDAC installed. You can create an MSI that does this for you. If you use a database engine such as Firebird or MSSQL you have to actually install an instance of the server. MSSQL has a toned-down version available called MSDE (soon to be SQL Express) which acts just like SQL server with user-concurrency restrictions and no enterprise features. You can also deploy this with MSI. Firebird has an embedded version that requires you only to copy a file to the harddrive or a server that you can silently install very easily. Any other server I wouldn't know about.

MS Access can be one option. If you are using SQL Server you have to install SQL Server on the machine where you install the application. You can have a server machine for data (SQL Server) and then you can install the application in any machine. You can use XML as well.
