Hello Datatable column is typeof decimal.How can we add string value to this column. thanks

Incidentally Turan if you would be happy to assign some arbitrary value (say 0) to a decimal column if the string couldn't be parsed to a decimal then you could do this: string decStr = Name; decimal dec; Decimal.TryParse(decStr out dec); dr[Amount] = dec; // assigns 0 to the column as 'dec' will be 0 if decStr can't be converted

Yes but in that case the type of the column should be string rather than decimal as you're going to have problems not just with the C# code but with the database itself if you try to assign arbitrary strings to a decimal column.

Thanks Vulpes for answer. But the will be any word. string decStr = Name; Decimal dec = Decimal.Parse(decStr); dr[Amount] = dec; // say it gets error : Input string was not in correct format

You can't. But you can do: string decStr = 12.34; Decimal dec = Decimal.Parse(decStr); dr[Amount] = dec; // say
