Difference between a Thread and a Process?

hi can anybody tell me what is the difference between a Thread and a Process?

See my An Introduction to Virtual Memory in Windows . The title is misleading since it also describes address spaces and processes. There is always a one-for-one correspondence of process and address space. Threads exist for a process; threads use / share the resources of the process. Resources include memory. There are also domains which I don't know much about but I assume they are between a thread and a process in terms of what they are. The thing I do know about them is that they make things really complicated to understand. Traditionally in Windows a process has one and only on address space and an application has one and only one process. Now domains can exist within processes and each domain is an application and that makes things confusing.

Hi Manoj Normal 0 Thread : - A single flow of control in a program is known as thread. This can execute independently in a processing environment and perform an operation. A program can be divided into different part or different sequential flow of control known as multithreaded program. Process :-is a program in execution. Thanks

A process is an entire application which can have multiple threads of execution. However if your machine has a single processor this is an illusion - the OS allocates each thread a time slice and switches between them to make it appear as if they are executing concurrently. In .NET it's possible for several applications to run under a single process with each application running under its own 'application domain' which isolates the applications from each other
