difference between c# and f#

Hi all............ I just wanna to know what is the difference between c# and F# why microsoft has developed F# if c# was there what are the benefits of F# over C#?

The article which Dinesh has linked to gives a good description of the features of F# which is a functional language with object oriented extensions for the .NET Framework. This is in contrast to C# which is an object oriented language with functional extensions :) There has been increased interest in functional languages lately as they make concurrent programming easier and enable some problems (particularly mathematical ones) to be solved more concisely or elegantly than they can be with 'imperative' languages. I think this is probably the reason why Microsoft developed F# which should help attract mathematicians scientists and academic programmers to .NET. Execution speed is understood to be good - about the same as C#. However I doubt whether it will have much impact on the current C# developer community many of whom will either not like F# or find it completely unintelligible. The C# design team are in any case trying to make concurrent programming much easier in the next version and there's already a preview available of the proposed async/await construct which will bring 'continuations' to the language.
