The basic Difference between Convert.ToString() and ToString() is that The Convert.ToString(value) handles NULL values and it does not throw any exception even if value is null. On the other hand The value.ToString() does not handle NULL values it will throw NULL reference exception. Below is the example: string test; object obj = null ; test = Convert.ToString(obj); //As a result it will return an empty string test =  and does not throw any exception. string test; object obj = null ; test = obj.ToString(); //As a result it will throw null reference exception error.

The basic difference between them is “Convert” function handles NULLS while “ result .ToString()” does not it will throw a NULL reference exception error. Convert.ToString() handles null  while ToString() doesn't. If u think it resolve your issue please marked as answer.

Difference is that .ToString() can't handle null or empty and it will raise an error where as Convert.ToString() able to handle the error automatically if it contains null or empty. So always it is recommended to use Convert.ToString() which can handle the null or empty space also. thanks.
