Assume you having two tables. You want to update the table2 upon some insertion happens on table1. Normally we do create a store procedure write sql SELECT statements to check the value exists in both tables and do the updates. To avoid this process we can write trigger on table1 (AFTER INSERT Trigger - fire this trigger after the INSERT operation is executed) to do the updation in table2. Also we can use for table auditing. On trigger save the system/user information who done the changes. This will be useful during Auditing.
