Dom element and Jquery Object

Question

hai all I m confusing little bit here... can any one explain what is Dom element and what is jquery object with simple example (or may be with simple words) and what is Parents() function .if it search throughout the Dom tree whats is the use of it... In what kind of cases i need this ?? TIA

DOM - It stands for Document Object Model. It defines the logical structure of documents and the way a document is accessed and manipulated. A DOM element is something like a DIV HTML BUTTON TEXTBOX BODY element on a page. Below is an example of DOM tree: Div1 Child div Here body tag is parent and it child called div tag. In side div it has one child which is a textbox. Below is an example of jQuery parent() function. It will make Div1 text as red. $(document).ready(function(){ $(span).parent().css({color: red}); });
