Does SharePoint manage documents or modules?

Question

I have been researching what CMSs are. Many definitions of CMSs say that they manage documents.

I however know that DNN (formerly DotNetNuke) manages modules and skins but DNN itself does not manage documents directly. Some of the modules do manage documents.

I am not familiar with SharePoint. SharePoint is often called a CMS. Which of the two does SharePoint manage, documents or modules? I hope you understand the difference. You probably need to be familiar with both SharePoint and DNN to understand.
