Well you certainly shouldn't use MD5 or SHA1 as these are basically hashing algorithms which provide one-way encryption. So whilst you'd be able to encrypt the credit card numbers you wouldn't be able to recover them. DSA and AES are both symmetric encryption algorithms (i.e. they use the same key for both encryption and decryption) and so would be suitable for this task. However of the two you should prefer AES (based on the Rijndael cipher) which is more modern and considered more secure than DSA.
