Error in Identity Column - IDENTITY_INSERT is ON

An explicit value for the identity column in table 'EMPLOYEE' can only be specified when a column list is used and IDENTITY_INSERT is ON what is this error?

You're attempting to insert a value into a column that is defined with the IDENTITY property. The values in Identity columns are automatically generated by the database so you can't insert your own values in those columns unless you use the SET IDENTITY_INSERT command as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188059.aspx

You also need to specify a column list for your insert statement as in: INSERT INTO my_table (column1 column2 ...)
