error while attaching mdf fle to sql server 2008 management studo

Question

Hi all I have microsoft sql server 2008 R2 management studio on my machine. Recently tried to attach a new database fle abc.mdf but got the following error saying An excepton occured while executing a transact -sql statement or batch. The database 'xxxxx' cnnot be opened because t is version 661.This server supports verson 655 and earlier.A downgrade path is not supported. Create database aborted. So please help me out in attaching this db file and let me know what needs to be done.

Hi It sound like you have version 655 but the mdf version is 661 (from MS SQL Server R2). There are couple of options. upgrade your SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2 use the Generate Scripts tool to generate scripts for the database objects (abc) and run the script on your SQL server. NOTE: You might have Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio on your machine but that doesn't mean that you have Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2

hi where do we find this Generate Scripts tool to generate scripts for the database objects and plz share the link if its available. What are the steps to be followed to convert from sql server 2008 to sql server 2006 R2
