An event is just a special kind of delegate in which the only operations allowed outside the class in which the event is defined are += and -= which respectively add or remove a delegate from the event's invocation list. Apart from that an event behaves just the same internally as a delegate of the event's type. So when the event is fired each delegate in its invocation list (an array of delegates) is invoked in turn thereby executing the methods which those delegates represent.
