Extract text from Excel and MS-Word documents

Please do you guys have any idea how can i programmatically extract text from Excel and MS-Word documents? I've tried to just remove all non-word and surrogate characters but i still have all formatting stuff such as font name size etc. Thanks a lot! Henrique

I think u can just read the file be it excel or word into a filestream or streamreader and write it to a txt file. If there is anyother solutions please post it here. It will be of great help.
