Fetch The Value to textbox from one form to another form

hi  I need to fetch the values to textbox from one form to another . The first error is caused by the compiler not being sure that 'fm' and 'sm' have been assigned values by the time 'avg' needs to be calculated. To get rid of it just initialize these variables to zero say: double fm = 0.0; double sm = 0.0; The reason for the second set of errors is that you haven't parsed the text values to the double parameters the method is expecting. Also the method is not returning a value. So change the method signature to: public double TotalMarks(double m1 double m2 double m3) and add this line at the foot of the method: return avg; Now change the code in the TextChanged event handlers to the following: double m1 m2 m3; double.TryParse(txtfi.Text out m1); double.TryParse(txtsi.Text out m2); double.TryParse(txtti.Text out m3); txtam.Text = TotalMarks(m1 m2 m3).ToString(); Note that if for some reason what's in a textbox can't be parsed to a double then zero will be used instead.

hi I am trying to calculate the internal marks of an student.Taking 4 textboxes in that 3 textboxes for internals marks and 4th textbox for calculating the average marks of the student i am getting an error message while calculating the values using this formula. Yes that would explain it since a Windows Service can't interact with the user's desktop.

Hi Thanks for your reply.It has got changed in project-->properties instead of Windows Form Applicationi took the value Windows Service.For that issue it wasn't take the showdailog function.Now it is working fine. regards satya

If you've already created an instance of the Schedules form and it's still open then I don't understand why that code doesn't work - it works fine in some example code I've just tried. Anyway there are other ways to get a reference to an existing instance of a form. Try replacing this line: Schedules.txtID.Text = DataGridView3.Item(0 i).Value.ToString() with these: Dim sch As Schedules = CType(Application.OpenForms(Schedules) Schedules) Dim tb As TextBox = CType(sch.Controls(txtID) TextBox) tb.Text = DataGridView3.Item(0 i).Value.ToString() This code assumes that txtId is placed directly on the Schedules form and not in some container such as a Panel or GroupBox.

But without creating the instance its giving error in the code.The txtID value not shown in the event.

If Schedules is a Form and txtID is a textbox on that form then I'd expect the following code to work in VB.NET: i = DataGridView3.CurrentRow.Index Dim dgv As DataGridView = CType(sender DataGridView) Dim thisCell As DataGridViewCell = dgv.SelectedCells(0) Dim selCell As Integer = thisCell.ColumnIndex Schedules.txtID.Text = DataGridView3.Item(0 i).Value.ToString() Me.Dispose() The important thing here is not to create a new instance of Schedules. The above code should access the existing instance albeit using hidden code generated by the VB.NET compiler.
