File Details from Directory and SQL Server

Hi all...

I am not able to form the following logic ... Please help..

In Computer, I have many pdf files . Location - D:\\UploadedFiles

All file-names are unique - I have added Current DateTime as prefix for file Name.

String File = 18Apr2016530PMabcd.pdf

String dateTime = DateTime.UtcNow.Date.ToString("ddMMMyyyy") + DateTime.Now.ToShortTimeString();

String FileName = datetime + File;

SQL Server –

ColumnsNames	DataType
ID	Numeric(18,0)	PK ;Not Null; Auto increment
File Name	Varchar(500)	PK, Unique ; Not null
Status	bit	1-Active ; 0-InActive
Uploaded By	Numeric(18,0)	Not Null
Uploaded Date	Datetime	Not null (Default – Current Date)

On GridView,I want the output as follows –

FileName

UploadedBy

UploadedDate

Logic – I need to get list of files from path D:\\UploadedFiles

I need to check whether all file names are present in database or not.

If not, then I have to delete those records from the database.

Please guide…

Hi...One more query.... For Files Checking in directory and SQL Server column - String[] filenames = Directory.GetFiles(@D:\); foreach (string item in filenames) { string filename = Path.GetFileName(item); // Check if filename exists in the sql server column or not. //if no then delete file from directory. } ----------- The requirement is - I need to check that files present in directory must be there in SQL Server column. Eg - Filename - 1jan2016560pmabcdef.pdf - must be present in directory and this name must be there in sql server column. How to do this ? There will be thousands of files... so... I need a faster solution.... Please guide.. It is like there will be thousands of files in one directory .. (Max size of directory is 70GB) ... so .. I want a solution (in linq or any other way) so that this sorting becomes faster... Please help me out ... This is a bit urgent.... Please guys... Help me out with logic ... Also this will be faster in LINQ ... Please help me out..... THanks a ton in advance...

yes you can use the same. But I found one thread in that they initiated that WCF gave timeout error while dealing with 5 Lakhs records. U can use SVCutility to check your service is up and running...and yes WCF will decrease response time. not only this you can maintain session can check actual error and instance management as well. Hi.. I have already done the multiple file upload using JQuery... I need to cross-verify that number of files in directory and database is same. File name is unique. Also I want to know that WCF Services help in running website smoothly ?? Is this true that WCF Service helps in reducing time period in fetching data from database and inserting records in database ... ?

Hi.. Here I have to give multiple file upload facility also... This is done .. Completed... Steps - 1. User will select multiple files . 2. User will click Upload button 3. On this click event (Step-2) - I have to do the following - 3.1. Get Files names from directory 3.2. Insert the selected files names in database (along with the username who uploaded it ; from session variable). 3.3. I have to check at all times that number of files in the directory is same as the number of files in the database. 3.4. Which ever file is not there in directory but in database then I need to delete that record. How do I do this ?

Hi...I can guide u the Logic 1) Get all the files from the Directory using like mention below // Put all file names in root directory into array. string[] array1 = Directory.GetFiles (@C:\); 2) Update the Current Date and time with the File name using foreach or for loop. 3) While doing the step 2  please create a datatable and insert the records in that. 4) Insert the records in the DB and create one more datatable from the existing one as you want to show only few column in Grid. 5) Display the 2nd datatable in the Grid . You can twist the logic accordingly as this is the basic approach.You can use LINQ as well etc..... Cheers....
