Karthik, I think you will learn more when you visit North India. Plus we should plan a meeting in South India as well. Our next plan is in East Coast, USA and then West Coast, USA.

Me too from South Side. I used to watch lots of Hindi movies, which helped me a lot to improve the language. Still not so perfect, but i improved a lot because during my initial carrer my collegues used to make fun of me when ever i speak in Hindi :) . But now they says i improved a lot. :) Hope so..

Oh but Karthik, you are expected to speak Hindi like a native but I can just say I am an American. At least I already know a few Hindi words like snaps and fresher. Right?

Karthik is probably right! Also, it is probably easy to learn when you live in the Country. I am working (not really) to teech Hindi to my son (Neel) but he can't. But now he has visited INDIA 3 times, he kind of understands. But good news is, almost everybody, who is in IT (specifically programmers), do speak good enough English so you would have no problem. Indian culture is much larger and has a wider scope of languages, local cultures and slangs. If I go to a different state, I would not be able to speak or understand. Even, I go to a local village if I am not from there, it will be difficult for me to understand. Keep in mind, the culture is thousands years old but it was more like small tribes in ancient times and every tribe developed it's own mini-culture and local language. But

After first day or two, everything is back to normal now. It's 6:46 AM now and I woke up at 6:00 AM. But yes, if you are not used to, it takes couple of days to adjust. May next year, we a few key members USA will come to INDIA for the Summit. Also, we will plan a Summit in USA soon. Thanks!

There are 100s of types of spices if not thousands. For Indian, when you say, spicy, they assume, you meant "hot". There is only couple of "hot" spices and one of them is hot chilly pepper. For non Indians, who are not used to any other spices, a non-hot spice can taste pretty "hot" or so called "spicy".

In India, do spicy foods have many types of spices or are they just hot with no other spices? Well I am being a little sarcastic and we should discuss that in another thread but note that I did try to start a similar discussion about Curry. Many people say spicy when they actually just mean hot. I hope people in India use many spices, not just hot ones.
