Forms Authentication with Active Directory

Question

Hello i am a new IT student i just start with c# and Active Directory and i made a Web Application on it but i am not able to connect it with my Active Directory , i will be glad if anyone helpd me throw it

It appears that if the user isn't authenticated you can't make the cast. If you try you will get the error:  Unable to cast object of type 'System.Security.Principal.GenericIdentity' to type 'System.Web.Security.FormsIdentity'. . However once authenticated the cast is valid. Hope that helps. try to put your code in condition that checks the user is already authenticated and not anonymous. if ( HttpContext.Current.User != null && HttpContext.Current.Identity is FormsIdentity ) { // your code follows } else { // the user is not yet authenticated and // there is no Forms Identity for current request }
