Get a specific named folders from a specific path

Question

Hi all How can i get specifc named folder (Many folders with same name in the subfolders) in a specified path (path has folder with subfolders). I just want to copy all these folders in a different path. Please help me. Thanks Darma

Well if you're going to copy all those folders (and their contents) to a different folder then you will of course need to give them different names. The following iterates through the folders and adds _1 _2 etc to their common name. It's assumed that the new folder to which they're all to be copied is called destFolderPath: for(int i = 0; i { string newSubFolderPath = destFolderPath + \ + specificName + _ + (i + 1); Directory.CreateDirectory(newSubFolderPath); string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(folderPaths[i]); foreach (string file in files) { string fileName = Path.GetFileName(file); string newFilePath = Path.Combine(newSubFolderPath fileName); File.Copy(file newFilePath); } }

The code only copies folders with the same specific name. So if sys is the folder name you're searching for it will only copy subfolders called sys (however deeply nested they are) and not alpha or beta. If you wanted to copy all subfolders of sys (including nested ones) then that could be a problem because some of them might also be called sys and so would already have been copied to the new destination as top level folders with 'numbered' names.

Hi Vulpes Thanks allot. There is a problem in this: For example i am searching for a folder name called sys . Sys has some files and some folders called alpha and beta . This code copys all the files in sys folder but not subfolders alpha and beta . could you please help me. thanks darma

If you just want the full paths of each such folder then try this: using System.IO; // ... string[] folderPaths = Directory.GetDirectories(specificPath specificName SearchOption.AllDirectories);
