Get computer Mac Address using ASP.NET

Question

Hi Is there a any way to find the Mac address of a computer using ASP.NET? or any other web technology (javascript php). Could someone please help. Thank you Viki ***** UPDATE****** It should work on IE Mozilla Chrome

If your site is trusted you can do this in IE: http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/JavaScript/Advanced-JavaScript-with-Internet-Explorer-Retrieving-Networking-Configuration-Information/1/ I wouldn't expect it to work for any typical visitors just users who's systems you already control like on your local network. There may be a second way in IE if you can find a common activex that generates a guid using CoCreateGuid. It returns the mac address in part of the guid. I wouldn't bet on finding one that's commonly installed though.

Note that it depends on whether you need the MAC address for the client or the server. I assume you need it for the client which is essentially not possible using ASP since ASP only executes in the server. So you need to do something that executes in the client such as Kumar shows. So look for other articles and samples that use JavaScript and that work in all browsers or at least the ones you need to support. I don't know any specific but it should be relatively easy to find articles.

Hi Kumar HV Thank you for the reply. I need something which would work on Mozilla and Chrome as well. Is there any solution available.
