Gridview update taking a long time

Question

hi guys
I know u can help me.
I have a grid view & on its row updating event i am updating a record & inserting a new record in a different table & again binding the grid which is taking a long time.& sometimes i get an error as the server request timed out.
plz help guys to make it faster.

hey vishal sahani don't understand what you exactly saying... plz explain. 1. whether you have 2 different tables from which one is initially attached to gridview 2. on row updating event you change data in table one 3. then saving a whole updated record as new record into 2nd table reply whether above points are right... or any else that you what to say.
