what is use of hast table?? can we use directory in .net framework 3.5?? what is exactly key - value pair?? plz give detail explanation..

We should prefer Dictionary over Hashtable. Because Dictionary is a generic type Hashtable is not. That means you get type safety with Dictionary because you can't insert any random object into it and you don't have to cast the values you take out.

Hi yes you can use and key-value pair is similar or just like to query string concept but not querystring. Dictionary is a generic type allowing: static typing (and compile-time verification) use without boxing If you are .NET 2.0 or above you should prefer Dictionary (and the other generic collections) Hashtable is also collection which takes a key corresponding to each values. If you want to find something in a hashtable you dont have to go through each value in hashtable instead search for key values and is faster. Hashtable represents a collection of key/value pairs which maps keys to value. Any non-null object can be used as a key but a value can. We can retrieve items from hashTable to provide the key . Both keys and values are Objects.
