HElp needed URGENTLY: FINAL YEAR COLLEGE PROJECT

Hi friends i am asked to do my final year college project on COLLEGE INFORMATION SYSTEM maintenance s/w. The part of which requires me to develop a module which automatically downloads the marks of all the students in the dept as soon as the result is announced by the university and then produce an analysis report on no. of passed students distinction studentsetc ... Can anyone give me any idea on how i could achieve it. I need your help desperately cause deadline for the project submission is march 6 2009. Pl reply as soon as possible.[:'(][:'(][:'(]

I addition to what Mahesh said if the application is distributed multi tier windows application the .Net framework provides the .Net remoting API so that you can develop the client application the server application and the component which deals with the data source and tie the client and the server via a chanel or you can develop a web service that deals with data and add a reference to it fromwhithin your client application

I am assuming this is a Web application (ASP.NET). I am also assuming that when the marks are posted somebody is going to add them to a database or some kind of data source. If you have a web application it will have a page load on that you are going to load the data from the database and display it. So it will always get the latest data from the database.
