Hide Mdi Parent form

Question

I can hide mdi parent form by using
this.hide();

but i want to hide this mdi form from another form

ex:
mdifrm1 ee=new mdifrm1 ();
ee.hide();

this code is not working...

I accepted and implement the answer ,
it is working but one time hide next time error because value of object 'mdi' is null,so null cannot hide

the implemented code is

mdiJewelSoft mdi = (mdiJewelSoft)this.MdiParent;

mdi.Hide();

how can repeatedly hide mdi?

I think after hide ,how it show,?

I think the OP means that he wants to hide the MDI parent not by calling Hide() from itself but from another form. If the other form is an MDI child and the parent's class name is 'mdifrm1' then you can do: mdifrm1 ee = (mdifrm1)this.MdiParent; ee.Hide(); If the other form is not an MDI child then you can do: mdifrm1 ee = (mdifrm1)Application.OpenForms[mdifrm1]; ee.Hide();

I think the problem is that you are using: new mdifrm1() in the other form. That won't get you the form that you want. That is something that is often confusing for beginners. You need a way for the other form to have a reference to the MDI form. Vulpes's code that uses Application.OpenForms to get the form is one way.

Hiding a form doesn't destroy the underlying object - it just makes the form's Visible property false. If you try to hide a form which is already hidden nothing will happen. To show it again you just call its Show() method or set its Visible property to true. Now if you're hiding the MDI parent from a child then it will hide not only the parent but the child as well. You therefore need to show it again from a different 'top level' form which isn't an MDI child. The variable 'mdi' can only be null if you've set it to null. Even if you close or dispose of a form it won't automatically set variables to null which refer to it.

Hi Will you please aloborate your question.? Exactly what you want to do in your MDI parent form. Your question is not clear to give responce.
