How to get 14 Hive path programmatically in Sharepoint.

You can access the physical path using SPUtility - the web path by looking at the SPWeb object. Using SPUtility to get the SetupPath of Sharepoint like so: using Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities; string spSetupPath = SPUtility.GetGenericSetupPath(string.Empty); // returns C:\Program Files\Common files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14 The argument for GetGenericSetupPath method can be any relative path beneath the root. For example. string featurePath = SPUtility.GetGenericSetupPath(template\features); An empty string argument returns the root path. Ref: Link 1

Hi Suthish SPUtility.GetGenericSetupPath was also present in the earlier version of the SharePoint. It returns 12-Hive path in that case. I don't think it is new in .NET 4.0. It is in the namespace Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities. So must be sharepoint method not the .NET framework method. Even I started learning SharePoint recently. So I am not an expert in this field. If I get more information I will update this thread.

Anyway its not working for me.. GetGenericSetupPath is in .Net Framework 4. I have 3.5 am accepting the thread as answer.
