Hi Using jquery you can do like below- $('#lblunitcost').html('new value'); As you are using server tags id may be different in client side. Check inspect element in browser for id or give clientidmode=static for label.

Hi Asp.net labels render as span so after render inside the span label render as span only. In code behind : lblunitcost.Text = Yourtext ; Client side you can use Javascript or Jquery : document.getElementById( lblunitcost ).innerHTML= Yourtext ;
