How can I install IIS without Windows CD/DVD

Question

I want to install Visual Studio 2003, but it recommended that i should install FrontPage Extension 2003 firstly, i can not skip that step. I know about how to install the IIS component using Windows installation CD/DVD. The issue is i have such a CD/DVD, how can i do? How can i install the IIS without Windows CD/DVD? Or how can i skip that step to install the Visual Studio 2003? Thanks. Best Regards, Kevin Kang

yes, i am working for Microsoft Corporation, in Visual Studio System Team. but i just wanna find out another way different from one(install windows component from add/remove program). just like installing WSS (Windows Sharepoint Service) like an indepentant component without Office distribute binaries. but thank for your reply.

kangjiansdesigner may not be using a pirated copy. The OS might have come preinstalled on a computer that he purchased, in which case the manufacturer would have provided a copy of the OEM on an install disk. This has happened to me on more than one occasion and I have also seen it on some of my clients machines. kangian, unfortunately you won't be able to install IIS or frontpage extentions without the installation cd. If your computer came preinstalled, the manufacturer probably has sent you a disk to reinstall everything to the way it was when you got the machine. My suggestion is to put that CD in the drive while pressing the shift key (to keep it from autostarting), then go to the control panel and try to load IIS from "Add or Remove Programs" If this does not work then you'll have to write/call the computer manufacturer or your supplier for a copy of the OEM for your computer. BTW... if you work at Microsoft (I assume it from your e-mail address) why are you asking about something like this? Someone at Microsoft, I feel certain, should know about Windows XP.

The obvious question back to you is if you are running windows on your computer why don't you have the CD? If you lost it that is one thing but if you are running a pirated copy then I don't have any sympathy for you.
