How does the Featured Articles section works..

Question

It seems only 3-4 articles daily or sometimes same articles every day or articles created by Admins got listed under Featured Articles section.
Why is it like that, is this depends upon number of views, downloads etc ?

I had a early basketball game today. Just saw your post. Usually Featured Articles are picked by one of the editors. Article must be well written and should have good contents. That's about it :). Top Articles on the other hand (in the right side bar) are weekly top articles based on number of views. Cheers!
