how to ask input using char

I got an error called unable to convert string to char i used the statement con = (char)(Console.Read()); Newbie here Please Help

Thank you for the help Vulpes but as far as i know i think it is customary to let the user hit Enter or Okay. is it possible too using char? without exiting the program after choice was made? I put already a Console.ReadLine(); at the end of the while loop but still the program exit without permission with me.

I wouldn't use Console.Read() to get character input as it works in a very strange way - I'd use Console.ReadKey() instead which also has the advantage that the user doesn't have to press the enter key to accept the input. This is a code from www.worldbestlearningcenter.com and i changed some of data type char from string. Sorry for copying it. by the time i input an answer the output will be like Incorrect! Well Console.Read() returns an integer - not a string - so that code should in fact work because there is a conversion from int to char. If you'd have used Console.ReadLine() instead of Console.Read() then you would have got the unable to convert string to char error because that method returns a string rather than an int. So I suspect the error is not occurring on that line but somewhere else?
